Dev Art Studios is an online publication about website design. It explains how color, typography, layout, imagery and branding decide whether a website gets read, used and trusted, and what a redesign actually changes once the mockups are gone and real content moves in.

Most writing about web design is either inspiration or a sales pitch. Inspiration shows a beautiful homepage and stops before anyone has to fill in a form on it. The sales pitch explains why your site needs work and, by a remarkable coincidence, who should do it. This site does neither.

What does Dev Art Studios cover?

Every guide here deals with one design decision and what it costs when it goes wrong. The subjects:

  • Color schemes: palettes, color roles, contrast and the gap between a brand color and a usable one.
  • Typography: type scales, readability and why the font is rarely the real problem.
  • Layout and UX: hierarchy, navigation, forms and the paths visitors actually take.
  • Branding: how a logo turns into an interface system, and how photography and illustration keep one visual language across a site.
  • Website redesign: when a redesign is the answer, when it is an expensive way to avoid one, which trends are worth it, and what it does to existing traffic.
  • E-commerce: product pages, category pages and checkout design.

How are the articles written?

The articles are written by the Dev Art Studios Team and follow a few fixed rules. Claims about accessibility, performance and platform behavior are checked against primary documentation: the W3C accessibility guidelines, web.dev, MDN and the official WordPress and WooCommerce documentation. Usability claims point to published research rather than to taste.

  • One decision per article, explained far enough that you could make it yourself.
  • Numbers come with a source. A contrast ratio is a measurement, not an opinion.
  • Examples show what fails as well as what works, because the failures are where the money goes.
  • Articles are updated when the standards they cite change.

Opinions are allowed. They are labeled as opinions.

Who is Dev Art Studios for?

Business owners who are about to spend money on a website and would like to understand what they are paying for. Marketers and in-house teams who inherited a site built by three different people over five years. Designers who want the reasoning written down, so the next stakeholder meeting is about evidence and not about whether the blue feels trustworthy.

If you are looking for a gallery of pretty homepages, there are better places. Most of them never show the checkout.

Does Dev Art Studios sell design services?

No. Dev Art Studios does not offer design or redesign services at the moment. There are no packages, no quotes and no free audit waiting at the end of each article. The guides are the product. When that changes, this page will say so before any article does.
